Hirschsprung Disease, also known as megacolon, is a congenital condition where the nerves that normally help the bowel to work do not form properly. The bowels are not able to move food and waste through the gastrointestinal tract and the patient suffers from a functional obstruction. This can present with constipation, sometimes severe, and emesis (vomiting).
What is Hirschsprung Disease? Dr. Baddr Shaksheer explains below.
Anorectal malformations, also known as Imperforate Anus, are congenital condition in which the anus and rectum do not form properly. There is a wide spectrum of malformations and they can be associated with congenital programs in other organs. There can be no anal open, an anal opening that is too small or mislocated, or can open into another organ.
